Public Meetings

The Southline Transmission Project Team would like to thank those who were able to attend public meetings related to the Project.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW PROCESS MEETINGS

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) have completed the formal Federal environmental review process by issuing their Records of Decision (RODs) for the project. BLM and WAPA previously released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), which was based on the comments received on the DEIS. For additional information on the environmental documents and environmental review process, please visit the BLM and WAPA Web sites.

In 2014, BLM and WAPA released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and conducted a public comment period, including public scoping meetings and hearings in Las Cruces, Deming, Lordsburg, Benson, Willcox, and Tucson.

SCOPING MEETINGS

In May 2012, BLM and WAPA hosted public scoping meetings in Las Cruces, Deming, and Lordsburg, New Mexico, and in Willcox, Benson, and Tucson, Arizona. Information acquired during the scoping period assisted the joint-lead agencies in identifying the potential environmental issues, alternative corridors, and mitigation associated with developing the proposed project. For additional information, please visit the BLM and WAPA websites, or click here to see the documents provided at the scoping meetings, including the Scoping Summary prepared by BLM and WAPA.
